How to Play
0.0 This is a one-time event to form the basis of a review which will be included in a PhD research proposal on cultural identities among children in Macau and Portugual. Instead of interview questions for a focus group of family units (children and their parents+grandparents), a simple card game has been designed to facilitate articulation inspired by images of Macau, especially for children.
1.0 One parent (or both parents) will facilitate this game.
2.0 Invite each of your family members [your child/children, followed by grandparent(s) of your child(ren) and finally the parents] to be the player. The player will first take a look at all the images in the "Play" gallery. Each image will expand in full when you click on it.
3.0 Now you will ask the player four questions one by one. After asking each question, invite the player to take another look at the gallery images and select a card of her/his choice. Invite the player to share associations
s/he may make with the chosen card (and if possible the reason why s/he has chosen that particular card). Please mark down the number of the card chosen for each question and make notes of the player's answer. You may make use of the google form here if you find it helpful. Or you may make an audio/video recording of the game if you see fit. The first name (or nickname) of the player will be included in the review report.

4.0 There is absolutely no right or wrong answers, also no good or bad answers. The review is to obtain an idea of children's sentiments about their hometown Macau, and the family context in which this takes place.
5.0 A children's summer programme in 2024 titled "Tales from Macau - Mythologies from the Future" is the starting point of this project, which hopes to conduct action research on how children create their own narratives/cultural identities and thereby reimagine our shared future.
